Tell Me About It... Stud.

Obviously can't ignore the Fall stud trend. You can get nearly anything you want studded now-a-days! Here are a few of my favorite studded items!!

1. Steve Madden "CAPITOLL" Bootie:  Instantly fell in love with these black suede booties from SM. Perfect amount of stud detail and just under 4 inches, perfect height for comfortable continuous wear.

2. CC Skye Wrap Bracelet:  More arm swag for ya! These leather wrap bracelets come in a dozen fantastic colors! CC Skye always kills it. Love them!!

3. Studded Nails: As seen on the fabulous "Nailasaurus" blog. I've seen a lot of studded nails lately! But these are definitley the cutest I've seen! Subtle. Not too much ya know? Confession: I can't even paint my own nails (eeek!!) but maybe you can give it a try! Or bring photo into your nail place!!

4. H&M Studded Leather Jacket: Get your "Sandy" on with this studded leather jacket. I can't seem to find this guy actually for sale anywhere!! That's H&M for ya! But you can check out similar versions here and here

5. Rebecca Minkoff Stud Wallet: If your not sick of my Rebecca Minkoff obsession yet- here is another RM item on my wishlist! I love this "Lipstick" Red wallet on a chain! With of course- studs!! Comes in variety of beautiful colors!

6. CC Skye Stud Ring: Another must have item from CC Skye. If the price is a little on the high side for you- check out this great DIY on "Inked & Sewn" blog!

Sorry if my posts have been few and far between as of late! A lot of exciting stuff happening with Mint! Can not wait to share!! Follow us on Instragram @mintclothingcompany for updates!

Arm Swag.

I may appear to not be a fan of "arm swag" as my wrists are usually pretty naked, on occasion I will throw on my watch. But I do in fact like the piled on look- just too lazy I suppose. These wrap around bracelets and watches make it quite easy to get the look in only one to two quick steps. Buy one each and your set!

La Mer: I recieved one of these beauties a few Christmas' ago and wore it to death. Literally. The leather started to come apart- it's life span was about 6 months if you wear it every single day although I'm sure the leather could be glued back together and fixed in one trip to my shoe repair guy. So many good ones to choose from on their site!

Sewsephine: Found these gems on Etsy. Very cute stuff and love the prices as well. Ton's of great colors and prints. Also love the cute tassel detail. Need to get my hands on a few of these guys asap. Maybe if I am lucky the right person will see this post- wink wink.

A Hitchhiker's Guide.

I'm pulling a bit of a "Throwback Thursday" here. As you can tell by the length of my hair (waaaaa.... it always stings doesn't it? Even if you love your haircut!) Anyway these were taken about a year ago by my buddy Alex as we ventured through Laurel Canyon, which is one of my absolute favorite areas of LA- even sitting in traffic. There is so much history there. It's magical. You can feel the vibes people!

Sunnies: Ray-Ban. Top: Free People (no longer avail.) Watch: La Mer.
Jean Shorts: RVCA (no longer avail.) Mocs: Minnetonka.

(I do not endorse hitchhiking.)

Peace.

Baby Blue.

Been a while since my last outfit post so here is a quick one! It's still plenty warm here in LA and this denim bodycon is in heavy rotation. Also still in my go-to's are these fringe JC booties which are so versatile I look forward to wearing them all Fall paired with jeans and comfy sweaters. Same goes for my felt Madewell hat- love a good year round investment!

Couch Surfing: Feat. McKaela Line

For our first ever "Couch Surfing" post we popped in to Interior Designer McKaela Line's beautiful Brentwood abode. (You may recognize this California born cutie from the last season of MTV's The Hills.) McKaela's home boasts pretty details and historical pieces, each with their own unique and interesting story. They give the space a warm, welcoming feel and and more then a pinch of old Hollywood charm.

Favorite Find? "Finding pieces is the best part of decorating- the hunt. Owning a piece of furniture or decorative item that has a story or maybe an elusive past makes your space feel more sentimental or special. I love my coffee table from the Fairfax flea market in West Hollywood because it's not only one-of-a-kind, but it has the most beautiful inlay of sea foam-green decorative ceiling tin. I made it my own by painting it black to pop out against my stock-white-walled apartment."

"The Foo dog book-end is from a trip my great-grandmother took to China. Foo dogs are a very popular decoration right now, and always hehe."

Coziest Corner? "If you want to find me cozied up, I'll be in my family room sitting in my down, slip-covered, chair and a half. It's nothing unique, but it's comfortable enough to hold me hostage until I wake up from nap land 2 hours later. My chair and a half is ideal for snuggling, napping, dangling your legs over the arms, and reaching over to my very full bookshelf an arm's reach away."

Your Steeze in Four Words? "Feminine, traditional, eclectic, vintage."

"One of the coolest pieces I have is a signed nude portrait of Mae West hanging in my bedroom. I inherited the piece from my great-grandparents who were friends with the legendary star. They were musicians living in a house they built in the 1910's just a couple of blocks up from where I live now in Brentwood. So it's very special for me that it now hangs in my bedroom. I had the most fun however, finding my set of 3-legged brass accent tables at an estate sale. They were an antique duo from the retired TV set of 'All My Children'… even my furniture is so Hollywood! (sigh…). My mom is a huge fan of the soap opera so we couldn't pass up the opportunity to hunt through Erica Kane's wardrobe and furniture and I of course couldn't leave empty-handed."

Tips and Tricks? "It's hard to decorate in your early 20's because chances are you're just out of college, limited on finances, and living in a rented apartment with a roommate who might have different ideas of "decorating." These challenges however make the process more fun as you learn how to bargain shop, make-over old pieces, discover DIY projects, and put your creativity and imagination to the test. The best places to find inspiration and pieces are flea markets, garage/estate sales, Goodwill, discount stores like Ikea and Homegoods, Craigslist and Etsy. Good design does not have to be expensive, and conversely, expensive items do not always make good design. I try to keep in mind a few things: invest in important pieces (comfy bed, couch, good lighting), don't buy it just because it's cheap, details and personal items make it more welcoming and homey, and try befriending color and texture.  I think its so important to want to come home to a place that you love and feels your own."

Thank you for letting us crash McKaela! We love you!

Fall-ing For You (Part Duex)

Aren't they just beautiful! I'm totally day dreaming with every one of these but a girls gotta dream!

1. Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium Bag in Burgundy: As you may know I wear my Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac in a similar wine color almost every day which is why I have totally fallen head over heels with this bag in this color as I know it goes with nearly everything. It's just so... lush!

2. Rebecca Minkoff Mac Bombe Royal Clutch: I am continually impressed with RM. I love everything she does including this beautiful navy bag. Could definitely imagine myself carrying this bad boy.

3. Theyskens' Theory Willa Leather Handbag: This to me looks like a vanilla cupcake that is too beautiful to even eat! Don't know how I would ever keep it clean but this would be my perfect brunch companion.

Aww.. Boots. Spending the last several years as an assistant to a celebrity stylist I have learned that boots are a lot more complex than one person would believe. A few keywords for you; First there is the "heel"- quite obvious. Are your boots flat, one inch, two inch, chunky, stiletto...? So many options! Then the "toe"- rounded, square, pointed... Up next- the "shaft"- yes people, the shaft. Meaning- how roomy is your boot in the calf area? What is the "circumference" if you will. For us less... mature folks, this one is always fun to discuss after long days at late night fittings. I'm sure you can imagine the "Sex and the City" like dialogs we get into! Fun. Well now that we have got down the basics, here are some of my favorite fall boot options!

1. Frye "Melissa Button"- Classic, basic, black boot. Perfect height; looks to hit just at the knee, nice rounded toe and the heel is a good one inch, which you could wear all day in comfortable fall boot bliss. Also love the pull tabs at the top. Pair with black jeans and white cozy cable knit sweater. Add a wine colored bag (like the "Proezna" pictured above #1) for a chic black and white look with a pop of color.

2. Steven by Steve Madden "Sting Rey"- A nice brown/tan boot can be hard to find. This guy has that great subtle wrap detail around the ankle and the cognac color is so toasty and warm. I can totally see myself strolling down a New York street covered with beautiful orange and red leaves in these. I'd pair em' with dark jeans and a leopard print scarf. Heel is one and half inch.

3. Boutique 9 "Dacia"- If you recognize these guys it's probably because they are another take on the Fiorentini + Baker "Eternity" boot. Which I don't mind at all because I adore them and these are a lot less pricey. I have a Steve Madden version (which are no longer available) but looks like they have come out with this version for the new season. I like the smokey grey color of the Boutique 9's featured and they have taken them up a few inches in shaft and heel height which is also a nice touch. Vanilla bag + black sweater- your good to go!

Well guys! Big week coming up for us at Mint. I'm gonna get out there and enjoy this beautiful Sunday! Wishing you a fantastic week!

Fall-ing For You.

Okay. There is no more denying it. It's September and I'm officially smitten with Fall fashion. Here are a few of my favorite trends for the upcoming season.

1. Parka: My name is Jessica and I am a parkaholic. That's right- I've got three of these bad boys! And I am still wanting another! Love the classic army green (like this Topshop one featured) but I'm thinking tan with some fur along the hood like this beauty.

2. Varsity: I have been on the hunt for a good varsity jacket for years!! This Chloe one is a little outta my price range but kinda digging this versatile grey and white one here.

2. Pea-Coat: Can you get more classic then a pea- coat? I love to get all Jame's Dean and flip my collar up- so mysterious! This navy double breasted is gorgeous! Also love to see a red with black buttons seen here. Not to mention a bright winter white!

1. Pattern: So many beautiful pattern knits happening this season! I can see this beautiful Rag & Bone dolman paired with wine colored skinnies and tan felt hat. Oh so perfect for fall (find similar here)

2. Metallic: Neon was to Spring and Summer what Metallic is to Fall. Metallic is one of my favorite trends for the up-coming season! How festive is this copper sweater from The Row! (Less expensive version here)

3. Cable: The also classic and so warm and fuzzy cable knit. This vanilla color is perfect to throw on with jeans and guaranteed to match pretty much anything. Find a similar, less pricey version here.

1. Wine: Another favorite color for Fall: Maroon, Burgundy, Wine... I love em all and I especially love my wine colored skinnies which I can not wait to get back on! I highly recommend these from FP and another great pair here. Create a sexy nighttime look by pairing with a leather jacket or a warm and cuddly day time look by adding your favorite white sweater.

2. Camo: I am so on board with this Camo trend.  I am yet to find the perfect pair of Camo skinnies that I've been lusting for. I might have to hunt down these Current Elliot's featured. Zara's also got a nice take on em which you can find here.

3. Leather: I mean. You gotta do it. I know they can be intimidating. But harness your inner rock star and invest in some leather pants. Love the juxtaposition between hard and soft by coupling these with  your biggest, softest and fuzziest sweater! So chic. Find some goodin's here and also here.

Hope this helped to ease those breaking up with summer blues! Nothing heals a broken heart quicker then finding something new to love! Happy September!
