Live Beaming: My 3 Day Cleanse Experience.

If you are an avid reader of this blog you may recall my taking a trip down to San Diego several months to hang with the kind folks of Beaming- an amazing superfoods bar located in Del Mar. (Read the post on my visit here) They invited me to come drink pressed juices and eat healthy food and get to know more about the story behind the brand and what they stand for. I was definitely impressed. Organic, healthy, and most of all- everything tasted* amazing. When Dustin, now a good friend who works for Beaming- proposed I do one of their popular 3 Day Cleanses I was... hesitant. I mean, I already eat really healthy, or so I tell myself. Hopefully I don't lose you here but I believe in honest journalism. I don't drink alcohol (just not my thing) and I can't drink caffeine (its for the safety of others believe me- I will bounce off the walls) but I do have a few vices, one being sugar. I love cookies, ice cream, brownies, cake, cupcakes... anything sweet- I am there. And also water- don't drink enough. At all. It's bad. SO- saying that, I was definitely nervous about the prospect of not eating for 3 days. Dustin assured me Beaming's Cleanse is not the standard cayenne and lemon juice starve- yourself- for- a -week "cleanse" but actually 3 days of tasty juices, a snack and you even get soup and salad! Yep. I was in.

My intern and I anxiously awaited the arrival of Fed-Ex with my Live Beaming Cleanse in tow... I live in Los Angeles, so if your interested in cleansing but aren't local to their Del Mar location its still totally easy to get cleansing! Tracking my package I could tell it would arrive any minute and when the Fed-Ex guy knocked on my door I pretty much leaped with excitement and even told him all about my cleanse haha... Ok ok. Getting off track... Now I've got 3 perfectly packaged cute lil green Beaming soft cooler bags that come labeled and ready to go...

Here is what they contain... Your 4 juices and 1 soup. (That orange one is soup but you get a new soup every day) Also a little snack, these super good protein ball things.. and salad dressing (new each day) and topping (seasoned nuts, new each day) A few days before you start your cleanse Beaming sends an e-mail of what you need to be prepared and its all very simple and straight forward. Pretty much organic greens (I went and got kale and spinach salad mix from Whole Foods) and anything else you may want for your salad at the end of each day. Which your package also includes a container to show how big you salad needs to be.

All the juices are well labeled and you get a menu with your day layed out.. what juice to have at what time. So I grabbed juice one and packed up juice two in my cooler and headed out to work downtown. Here is the thing that really surprised me. I was not hungry. I could hardly finish juice one! They are pretty filling. Getting through each juice was the hardest part for me actually! Also remembering to drink enough water which is always my problem as I previously mentioned.

By day two I was still getting on fine but I did start to crave my sweets... although this drink pictured above definitely helped (Almond milk, beaming protein, vanilla, Himalayan pink salt) With my schedule which includes a lot of driving and running around, it was harder to stay on track with my itinerary I was given but the coolers definitely help because you can take stuff on the road, or to work if your in an office.

Day 3- at this point your used to having your juice as you little companion, where as the first two days I kept leaving them places and running back to grab them (ADD) This juice (above) actually turned out to be one of my faves surprisingly because I don't like beets- but it was good! Beet, cucumber, celery, carrot, lime, kale, apple and ginger, and of course- good for you! By the end of Day three you definitely feel lighter, more energized and motivated to eat and drink healthier coming off your cleanse.

I ended my Beaming Cleanse on Wednesday and hopefully you were able to follow along via my Instagram and Twitter. It's Sunday morning and I am still feeling the effects of the cleanse! In a good way! We went to the Farmer's Market yesterday and got a ton of healthy food and snacks to last through out the week. And now- although, I have got my vegan peanut butter cookies here, I am actually craving juice! How about that? Thank you to Beaming for this experience, I needed the re-set and I am feeling great!

My Fashion Week Faves.

Alice + Olivia- Enchanting

This is one show I was sad to miss. Sparkles, lace, florals, fur, metallic- this collection had a bit of everything going and yet it all comes together in this sort of whimsical way. The make-up and styling (otk boots, red lips, perfectly tousled curls) was impeccable. So many pieces on my wish list. A few of my faves:

Mara Hoffman- Master of the Print

To me, Fall and Mara Hoffman in the same sentence is a bit of an oxymoron. The designer, known for her bright prints- exudes Resort to me. So I was interested to see what she came up with for Fall. (Especially as I am working on my first Fall Collection and I primarily live in and design for warmer climates) Her signature long flowy dresses, and of course prints were stand outs- she added in darker colors, which you'd be more likely to wear during Fall then Summer, but most of these pieces will definitely be needing at least a cropped leather jacket over! She can do no wrong in my eyes. I mean, our "Fall" in California was 80 degrees! This printed jumpsuit with sweater over was definitely my favorite look.

Rag & Bone- One of the Boys.

The lumber jack plaid I so loved last Fall/Winter is back! Along with paint splattered denim and Bill Cosby inspired sweaters. Cargo Shorts, Boyfriend Blazers and Pin Striped Trousers appeared throughout the collection, which was mostly muted colors- dark greens, greys and navy. Every now then a refreshing pop of bright orange and some lovely plum colored pieces made their way down the runway.

Well! There are just a few that I have been scoping out.. I may do one or two more of these! A lot to cover! Anyone in particular you'd like to see?! Let me know!

New York City.

So, last week I did a 48 hour stint in NYC. It was quite the whirlwind trip. I don't know how people do it! I took the red eye Wednesday for all day meetings Thursday except a lunch stop- I finally got to eat at Serendipity, which has been on my list every time I go to New York as it's one of my favorite movies!! AND serendipitously enough we got sat at the same table where they filmed the scene in the movie, which was kinda cool.

Later that day I found my way to SoHo and got to check out the Dolce Vita Showroom and sneak peek their Fall gear- it's gorgeous. I wanted everything. I can't wait till all the shoes comes out, you will freak. Thanks to DV for having me! Too much fun.

Next, I cruised around Soho for some shopping and cupcake eating at The Little Cupcake Bakeshop on Prince St. Vanilla with chocolate frosting, always a good call. I also loved this cute little bookstore, Mcnally Jackson just down the road.

Friday- navigated the subway on my own. I was very proud of myself if you can't tell. I find the New York Subway to be a lot more difficult then Paris or London where I've spent a little more time. I kept looking for the red line! No one to tell me to "mind the gap"- people need to be reminded! I do better with colors then numbers and letters for sure haha. Anyway! I made it. I met up with Michael from On Abbot Kinney for a stroll around and we snapped a few pics. All back, coffee and cigarettes, he is way too cool for me- rag-a-muffin LA girl haha.. it was fun to hang with him and take a walk around his neighborhood. Hopefully I didn't cramp his style too much!

More meetings... Times Square was a mad house! Had to go through right through Super Bowl Ave.  I kept telling Lindsey I wished I had my skateboard!! Coulda cut right through...

(excuse these iphone pics... new camera coming soon)

Then, just like that I'm already off. Interesting conversation with my cab driver about the meaning of life before he dropped me at the wrong terminal, which turned out to be the right terminal- creepy, and a long story. Met some nice boys stranded in the airport. Boarded, passed out and...

Back in LA before midnight when I officially turn into a pumpkin. So, I skipped town just before the Superbowl, the storm and LA Fashion Week. In and out. It was a lovely, production trip and special thanks to my PR, Lindsey for setting up my trip and showing me a great time.  New York, until we meet again.

Spring Fever.

The day has finally come! I am so excited to be launching the Spring/Summer 14 Collection today! This collection is a huge stepping stone for me personally as I have expanded the line from tees and tunics to dresses, pants, shorts and pullovers- all in our signature comfy tee material.

Our new basics- the perfect tee, ribbed tank and long sleeve pocket tee, offer versatile essentials with a punky detail- super cute contrast stitching in lime (neon), orange and teal. The Harem Pant- a personal fave (you will not be able to take off!) comes in fun tiger stripe tie dye and more basic stone blue- which gives off a kind of cool denim vibe.

The maxi dresses can be worn dressed up with layers, leather jackets and jewels or down with sunnies and sandals or even better- bare feet! And the pullovers are perfect for afternoons at the beach or running around town. The cozy cowl neck and cool palm graphic or plain stone blue and white baseball version will be a wardrobe staple. I sincerely hope you love and enjoy this collection as much as I've loved making it. I am so excited to finally share it with you.

Love,
Jess
